Island Description
Kendhoo is small island in Baa Atoll, which lies in the northern group of islands in the atoll.
Traditionally was an island of fishing, however more and more people now work in the resort or are employed in the construction industry.
Kendhoo is said to be the island in which Islam was introduced to the Maldives. It was Arab scholar Abdul Barakaath Yusuf al-Barbari, who taught local Islamic traditions and offering daily prayers. You will find some historic sites whilst on the island
Traditionally, fishery, and thatch-making are the main occupations and major livelihoods of the people of Kendhoo. A significant number of the island’s youth work in resorts. Today the island has over 20 fishing vessels of various sizes. Most womenfolk of the island do traditional thatch making, and other income generating household works.
There are few guesthouses and few Cafés on the island.
There is a bikini beach, as well as a good snorkeling near the shore.
You can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, suntanning, fishing, walk around the island, learn about people and simply enjoy relaxing sitting on the beach at sunset. Stay relaxed and discover the island and people
