Island Description
Hulhumale’ - (it is a separate island which is also a district of Male’ Capital City) - A beautiful modern city with long white sandy beaches with plenty of tourist accommodation available around the island. There are lots of Café’s, Restaurants and many shops.
This large island is mainly of interest to travelers as a place to overnight cheaply when transiting Male’, though anyone interested in urban planning will find walking around Hulhumale fascinating. The centerpiece to the island is its huge mosque – the golden glass dome of which is visible from all over the southern part of North Male Atoll.
There’s even a surprisingly attractive artificial beach on the eastern side of the island, as well as shopping malls, guesthouses, restaurants and all the other trappings of urban life. Hulhumale' Dhigga Magu, otherwise known as beach road, is an active place in the day time. There are many water sports and dive shops around. There is one rule to find one, just take a walk down and it won't take long before you spot ads or watersports equipment’s. These activities are mostly targeted to tourists.
The island is connected via a causeway to the airport island Hulhulé Island, allowing road transport to easily travel between the airport and Hulhumalé. With the opening of the Sinamalé Bridge between Hulhulé and Malé Island in September 2018, the road networks of the three islands were connected for the first time (Male’ Capital city, Velana International Airport, Hulhu Male’) Island Health Center / Hospital Detail:
